Meet the woman you've been hiding. A night to explore shadow, embodiment, mirror play & adornment.
Come meet her. Dress her. Let her out to play. An altar to the parts of yourself you've been taught to hide.
SHADOW · PLAY · EMBODIMENT · MIRROR · ADORNMENT
What if the parts of yourself you've been keeping in the shadows are the very parts waiting to set your life on fire?
The audacious one. The eccentric one. The wildly creative one. The rebellious one. The one who doesn't need permission. The one who wants to experiment, take up space, change the rules, and perhaps make a little trouble.
She's been there all along.
It's time to meet her.
it's my 11 year xanniversary (11 years beyond xanax!)remember when you used to play?
Before you knew what was flattering. Before you worried about looking ridiculous. Before you learned which parts of yourself were acceptable and which ones were better kept under wraps.
You simply played.
You dressed up. Tried on different characters. Imagined different lives. Experimented with who you could be.
I think back to the little girl who used to put on fashion shows for her mom. Getting dressed up, experimenting with clothes, creating characters, playing with how she looked and who she could be.
She wasn't thinking about whether she was too much. Whether she looked ridiculous. Whether she had permission.
She was just playing.
Somewhere along the way, many of us learned to edit ourselves.
We learned which expressions were welcomed, which desires were acceptable, which versions of ourselves were easier for other people to understand.
And perhaps we left a few of those playful, imaginative, unconventional, outrageous parts of ourselves behind.
But what happened to all those other versions of you?
The ones who wanted to experiment, create, take up space, be seen, be different?
Perhaps it's time to invite them back into the room.
meet yourself in the mirrorWHAT IF YOU GAVE YOUR SHADOW A LITTLE ROOM TO PLAY?
We tend to think of the shadow as something dark to fix, heal, or overcome.
But what about the parts of ourselves we've hidden because they didn't fit the story we were expected to live?
The confidence we were afraid to embody. The desires we learned to dismiss. The creative expression we kept tucked away. The parts of ourselves we secretly admired in other women.
Sometimes the things we suppress aren't simply our wounds.
They're our gold.
Our audacity. Our imagination. Our appetite. Our creative fire. Our capacity to take up space and express ourselves without constantly negotiating our existence.
And sometimes, meeting these parts of ourselves doesn't require another self-improvement project.
Sometimes it requires a little curiosity, a mirror, some adornment, and permission to play.
What if you stopped editing yourself before you've even had a chance to discover who you might be?
What if you let her take the wheel for a little while?

An altar is a place of reverence, where we bring our attention and offerings. So what if we created one for the parts of ourselves we've kept in the shadows?
Rather than creating another persona to perform, we're making space to meet, honor, and adorn the parts of ourselves waiting to be expressed.
ALTAR EGO is a free, 60-minute somatic salon to explore the alter ego living in your shadows.
Through shadow exploration, somatic movement, mirror play, and adornment, we'll get curious about who she is, how she moves, what she wears, what she desires, and what she's been longing to express.
She might be outrageous, eccentric, rebellious, glamorous, intellectual, mischievous, quiet, or completely unexpected.
She doesn't have to be anyone in particular.
She just gets to be expressed.
Your altar. Your alter ego. Your rules.
what happens at the salon?-
Uncovering what's been hidden.
A little shadow work to explore the parts of yourself you've kept under wraps.
What have you been afraid to express? What have you judged, suppressed, or secretly desired? What do you admire in others that you haven't quite allowed yourself?
We'll get curious about the why behind keeping certain parts of ourselves hidden.
-
Remembering the girl who knew how to play.
A little exploration of your younger self and the imaginative, uninhibited parts of you that existed before you learned all the rules.
What did you love playing? What did you dress up as? What did you do simply because it delighted you?
What expressions of yourself did you eventually abandon, outgrow, or learn to hide?
An invitation to retrieve a little of that curiosity, creativity, and freedom.
-
Getting out of your head and into her body.
A guided movement and embodiment practice to shake off the familiar.
We'll experiment with different postures, gestures, expressions, and ways of taking up space.
Less thinking about who she is. More feeling her.
-
Meeting your alter ego.
Come face to face with yourself.
Through mirror play, we'll experiment with our gaze, expressions, movements, and presence.
What do you see when you stop looking for what's wrong? What happens when you look at yourself with curiosity instead of critique?
Speak to her. Let her speak back.
What has she been waiting to tell you?
-
Dressing the woman in your shadows.
Bring out the jewelry, fabrics, clothing, makeup, and accessories.
Play with silhouettes, textures, colors, and contrasts. Let her choose. Let her experiment.
What would she wear? What would she never wear? What might she dare to do?
Don't dress the woman you think you should be.
Dress the woman who's asking to come out.
-
Letting her take the wheel.
What did you discover? What does she want more of? Where is she asking to be expressed?
What would change if you gave her a little more say in your everyday life?
Close with an intention, declaration, or little ritual of devotion.
Not a performance. Not a permanent persona.
Just a little more room to be all of yourself.
IMAGINE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU STOP KEEPING HER A SECRET.
Imagine closing your mirror after an hour of playing, experimenting, and seeing yourself through a slightly different lens.
Perhaps you've discovered an aspect of yourself you didn't realize you were allowed to enjoy.
Perhaps you feel a little bolder getting dressed tomorrow. A little less interested in playing by the rules. A little more curious about the things you've been wanting to try.
Perhaps you have a new image of yourself, a new feeling in your body, or a new appetite for expression.
You might find yourself looking in the mirror differently.
Not searching for what's wrong. Not looking for someone else's approval.
But recognizing a little more of yourself staring back.
And perhaps that's where something begins.
You don't need to become someone else. You get to bring more of yourself into the room.

HEY I'M JESSABOUT YOUR HOST
I'm the creatrix behind Renaissance Woman, a living practice of embodiment, adornment, beauty, Eros, descent, and self-expression for the multidimensional woman.
My own journey has been one of learning to bring seemingly contradictory parts of myself into relationship. The refined and the wild. The elegant and the erotic. The intellectual and the sensual. The parts that fit neatly into a box and the ones that absolutely refuse.
My background in fashion and styling was my first introduction to the power of adornment as self-expression. Over time, my work evolved into something much deeper: exploring the relationship between our bodies, identities, desires, beauty, and the parts of ourselves we've been taught to leave behind.
I believe we're far more interesting when we stop trying to be just one thing.
And I believe there's a whole lot of gold waiting in the places we've been taught to hide.
ALTAR EGO is an invitation to explore a little of that with me.
SHE'S WAITING IN THE MIRROR.
Perhaps she's been trying to get your attention for a while.
In the things you want but haven't asked for. The clothes you haven't dared to wear. The ideas you've kept to yourself. The expressions you've softened so other people could feel comfortable.
What if you stopped asking whether you're allowed to be her?
What if you just met her?
Come into the candlelight. Bring your mirror. Bring your adornment. Bring your curiosity.
Let's see who shows up.
