the sanctuary for embodied withdrawal

A place to land when withdrawal has become your whole world—

It’s a place for the days when you wake up and wonder, How am I supposed to do this again? For the nights when your nervous system won't settle. for the strange symptoms, the grief, the fear, the loneliness — and for the moments when a tiny part of you can still feel that there is a life waiting for you on the other side.

hey, i’m jess.

I was prescribed Xanax at 17, after my first panic attack. What started as one small pill to help became ten years of yo-yoing medications, rising tolerance, and a body I no longer recognized as mine.

At twenty-seven, I stood at a crossroads. Take more, or walk into the unknown. I chose the unknown.

I stopped abruptly, and what followed just about broke me — years of protracted withdrawal where I didn't recognize my own mind. Symptoms I couldn't explain, a body that felt foreign, and a healing process that moved at a pace completely different from the one I desperately wanted.

What carried me wasn't a protocol — it was movement, breath, radical self-compassion, and the slow, unglamorous practice of learning to trust myself again. I found a version of myself more grounded, more whole, and more me than I ever was before the pills. I built The Sanctuary because I know what it's like to need that kind of place and not have one. A place where someone says: I believe you. I know this can be terrifying. You are not crazy for struggling. And there is still a future here.

I'm not a doctor, and this isn't a treatment program. I'm someone who has walked through the exact fire you're in, and who now guides others through the parts of healing a prescription pad can't reach. You don't have to pretend you're okay here. You don't have to have it figured out. You just have to keep going. And when you can't find the strength to believe in your own recovery, you can borrow a little of mine.

It gets better. I'm proof.

this is for you if…

  • You're in the thick of withdrawal — or preparing to begin — and the thought of doing it alone feels unbearable.

  • You wake up wondering whether this is really your life now, and need someone to remind you that it isn't the end of your story.

  • You want spiritual and emotional support alongside your medical care, not in place of it.

  • You're tired of being reduced to symptoms and want to reconnect with the human being underneath them.

  • You're drawn to healing through embodiment, ritual, movement, breath, and practice — not willpower alone.

  • You crave community with people who don't need you to explain why this is so hard.

  • You believe there's meaning waiting on the other side of this, even on the days you can't feel it

  • You want tools you can return to again and again — on the hardest days and the good ones

this is not for you if…

  • You're in acute medical crisis or need immediate clinical intervention — please reach out to a doctor or emergency services first

  • You're looking for a substitute for medical guidance, therapy, or a tapering protocol

  • You want a purely clinical, data-driven approach with no spiritual or embodied framing

  • You're not yet ready to explore practices that ask you to meet yourself with curiosity and compassion.

what’s included

it's not THE END OF YOUR STORY.

This is a passage, not the end of the road.

This journey has its challenges. I won't sugarcoat that.

There may be days that feel impossibly long. Days where you wake up already bracing. Where every sensation in your body feels amplified, strange, or threatening. Where you scan yourself all day — Is this normal? Is this getting worse? Am I ever going to feel okay again? There may be moments when you wonder if you've lost your mind, your sh*t, your life, forever.

I want you to know something I wish someone had told me: your life is not over.

There is a person underneath all of this. There is a body underneath the fear. There is a self underneath the symptoms. A beating heart. A nervous system learning. A capacity for pleasure. A capacity for connection. A capacity to feel. And there is a way forward — even when you can't see it yet.

This journey can become more than something you survive. It can be about learning the difference between something is wrong with me and something is moving through me. Learning to listen to your body without being terrified of every message it sends. Learning that you can feel something deeply without being consumed by it. Learning, slowly, to trust yourself again.

It can become a passage into a relationship with yourself that is deeper, more intimate, more embodied than the one you knew before the meds.

You don't have to make meaning out of it today. You don't have to be grateful for it. You don't have to turn your pain into a beautiful story before you're ready.

For now, just know that I am here.

I've walked through the fire. I know how dark it can get. And I am not afraid of the dark.
