The sanctuary
The Sanctuary is a monthly membership for people withdrawing from pharmaceuticals who need more than information. Somewhere to land, connect, feel understood, and feel a little less alone.
the sanctuary for embodied withdrawalA place to land when withdrawal has become your whole world—
For the days when you wake up and wonder, How am I supposed to do this again? Or the nights when your body won't settle. For the strange symptoms, the grief, the fear, the loneliness.
But also for the parts that are harder to explain. The feeling that you no longer recognize yourself. A heightened sensitivity to people, places, or energy. Strange dreams, shifts in perception, a questioning of everything you once believed, or a deeper search for meaning. A sense that your inner world has been turned upside down — your beliefs, your identity, your relationship with life itself. The emotional, relational, spiritual, and energetic dimensions that often get left out of conversations focused on symptoms and protocols.
Because withdrawal can touch every dimension of being. And you deserve a space where the whole experience has room to exist.
hey, i’m jess.
I was prescribed Xanax at 17, after my first panic attack. What started as one small pill to help became ten years of yo-yoing medications, rising tolerance, and a body I no longer recognized as mine.
At twenty-seven, I stood at a crossroads. Take more, or walk into the unknown. I chose the unknown.
I stopped abruptly, and what followed just about broke me — years of protracted withdrawal where I didn't recognize my own mind. Symptoms I couldn't explain, a body that felt foreign, and a healing process that moved at a pace completely different from the one I desperately wanted.
And it wasn't just physical. My spirituality, sensitivity, perception, and relationship with life itself began to shift in ways I never expected — experiences I rarely found reflected in the conversations around withdrawal.
What carried me wasn't a protocol — it was movement, breath, radical self-compassion, and the slow, unglamorous practice of learning to trust myself again. I found a version of myself more grounded, more whole, and more me than I ever was before the pills. I built The Sanctuary because I know what it's like to need that kind of place and not have one. A place where someone says: I believe you. I know this can be terrifying. You are not crazy for struggling. And there is still a future here.
I'm not a doctor, and this isn't a treatment program. I'm someone who has walked through the exact fire you're in, and who now guides others through the parts of healing a prescription pad can't reach. You don't have to pretend you're okay here. You don't have to have it figured out. You just have to keep going. And when you can't find the strength to believe in your own recovery, you can borrow a little of mine.
It gets better. I'm proof.

this is for you if…
You're in the thick of withdrawal — or preparing to begin — and the thought of doing it alone feels unbearable.
You wake up wondering whether this is really your life now, and need someone to remind you that it isn't the end of your story.
You want spiritual and emotional support alongside your medical care, not in place of it.
You're tired of being reduced to symptoms and want to reconnect with the human being underneath them.
You're experiencing shifts in your identity, sensitivity, perception, or spirituality, and want space to explore the parts of withdrawal that are harder to explain.
You're drawn to healing through embodiment, ritual, movement, breath, and practice — not willpower alone.
You're tired of being reduced to symptoms and want to reconnect with the human being underneath them.
You crave community with people who don't need you to explain why this is so hard.
You believe there's meaning waiting on the other side of this, even on the days you can't feel it
You want tools you can return to again and again — on the hardest days and the good ones
You're in acute medical crisis or need immediate clinical intervention — please reach out to a doctor or emergency services first
You're looking for a substitute for medical guidance, therapy, or a tapering protocol
You're primarily seeking support for active addiction or compulsive substance use. The Sanctuary is designed for people navigating physical dependence and withdrawal, rather than as an addiction treatment or recovery program.
You want a purely clinical, data-driven approach with no spiritual or embodied framing
You're not yet ready to explore practices that ask you to meet yourself with curiosity and compassion.

it's not THE END OF YOUR STORY.This is a passage, not the end of the road.
This journey has its challenges. I won't sugarcoat that.
There may be days that feel impossibly long. Days where you wake up already bracing. Where every sensation in your body feels amplified, strange, or threatening. Where you scan yourself all day — Is this normal? Is this getting worse? Am I ever going to feel okay again? There may be moments when you wonder if you've lost your mind, your sh*t, your life, forever.
I want you to know something I wish someone had told me: your life is not over.
There is a person underneath all of this. There is a body underneath the fear. There is a self underneath the symptoms. A beating heart. A nervous system learning. A capacity for pleasure. A capacity for connection. A capacity to feel. And there is a way forward — even when you can't see it yet.
This journey can become more than something you survive. It can be about learning the difference between something is wrong with me and something is moving through me. Learning to listen to your body without being terrified of every message it sends. Learning that you can feel something deeply without being consumed by it. Learning, slowly, to trust yourself again.
It can become a passage into a relationship with yourself that is deeper, more intimate, more embodied than the one you knew before the meds.
You don't have to make meaning out of it today. You don't have to be grateful for it. You don't have to turn your pain into a beautiful story before you're ready.
For now, just know that I am here.
I've walked through the fire. I know how dark it can get.
And I am not afraid of the dark.

Frequently Asked Questions

For anyone navigating pharmaceutical withdrawal — whether you're just beginning, deep in it, or further along and still finding your footing. If you're looking for support, inspiration, and gentle practices to help you feel more grounded, connected, and at home in your body, you're in the right place.
-
A place for ongoing support, shared experiences, resources, reflection, and gentle practices you can return to. Think embodied exploration, movement, breath, ritual, spiritual inquiry, community connection, and space to make sense of the parts of withdrawal that don't always fit into a symptom checklist. Everything is designed to be easy to access and return to — especially on the days when your brain and body don't have much bandwidth.
-
Not at all. Everything is an invitation, not an expectation. Whether you're brand new to embodiment and spiritual exploration or have been practicing for years, there's room for you here. The practices are simple and approachable, and you can meet them exactly where you are.
-
I’m grateful there’s more practical support for withdrawal now — protocols, resources, and people helping navigate the logistics of it. But I found something missing: the unseen. The emotional, spiritual, energetic, and embodied layers of withdrawal — the patterns, feelings, intuition, identity shifts, and intangible experiences that don't always have a place in a protocol. The Sanctuary is here for that territory, too.
-
No — and it isn't meant to.
I know your nervous system is likely already at max. You're not here to add one more thing to keep up with. This was built to be simple — the practices are simple, the navigation is simple, nothing here asks more of you than you have to give.
You don't need to work your way through a curriculum or keep up with everything inside. Pick up what feels supportive. Leave what doesn't. Some days you might do a practice. Some days you might listen to an activation. Some days you might simply come in, look around, and leave.
There is no gold star for doing more.
-
Then you're human — and you're not alone.
Withdrawal can be incredibly non-linear. You can have a few good days and suddenly find yourself wondering, What happened? I thought I was getting better. You can feel hopeful in the morning and completely defeated by night.
This space isn't here to tell you to “stay positive.” It's here to give you somewhere to land when the road gets rough — with practices, perspective, encouragement, and reminders that a difficult stretch doesn't erase everything that came before it.
You don't have to figure out the whole journey today.

The Sanctuary is primarily for people navigating physical dependence and withdrawal from prescribed pharmaceuticals. Physical dependence and addiction are not the same thing. You can become physically dependent on a medication through taking it as prescribed, without having an addiction or compulsive relationship with it.
The Sanctuary isn't an addiction treatment or recovery program, and isn't designed to provide primary support for active compulsive substance use. If that's part of your experience, you may benefit from specialized addiction support alongside appropriate medical care.
-
Yes. The Sanctuary is primarily self-guided, but it continues to grow around the needs and questions of its members. You'll also have access to monthly live Q&As with Jess, where you can bring questions or simply listen.
If you're looking for deeper, more personalized support, limited 1:1 sessions are available separately. These offer space for individual exploration and guidance, but aren't a substitute for medical care, individualized treatment, or crisis support.
A note: The Sanctuary is a supportive community space — not a substitute for medical supervision. If you're withdrawing from any pharmaceutical, please do so under the guidance of a doctor. This space is here to hold you alongside that care, not instead of it.
